Patterns & Type
This is an ongoing studio practice exploring pattern, type and symbolic mark-making. Through drawings, scribbles, typographic experiments, and repeating portrait motifs, Shabazz Larkin develops visual languages that can extend across wallpapers, textiles, prints, and architectural surfaces. These works move between sketchbook experimentation and finished designs. Faces, gestures, letters, and marks are repeated, layered, and rearranged to form rhythmic compositions that carry the spirit of portraiture into pattern. The series explores how identity, presence, and cultural memory can live not only in images of people, but also in the patterns that surround everyday life.
